Vocalist Liz Fixsen sings with verve and humor and brings a sense of story-telling to beloved jazz standards, including bossa novas, swing tunes, ballads, and blues and the occasional pop or folk classic. She has been a long-time presence in the Baltimore-area jazz scene, as a pianist and vocalist. Besides Little Market Cafe, she performs regularly at Syriana Cafe in Ellicott City and has played at a variety of other venues in Baltimore and Howard County, including the Corner Bar, Woodside Cafe, and Jazz's Island Cuisine. She is also a pianist for worship services at Kittamaqundi Community Church in Columbia.
In addition to performing with Liz Fixsen and other groups, saxophonist Tom Monroe is an elementary vocal/general music teacher for Howard County Public Schools. Tom loves Big Band music and is currently in two community jazz ensembles: playing saxophone with the Columbia Jazz Band and piano with the Columbia Big Band.
Pianist Andrew Ellis is a self taught musician from the Baltimore Maryland area. Throughout his career he has been located in Baltimore, New York, and Philadelphia, playing in a variety of styles including jazz, soul, rock, pop, and hip hop. Presently he is focusing on recording music and mastering the bebop language in his hometown of Baltimore.
Bassist Walter Heber plays with the DC Tango Orchestra, the Clipper City Crew Big Band, and the Montgomery Philharmonic Orchestra. He is in the house band for the monthly jam session at Judges Bench in Ellicott City. He and Andrew regularly perform at Syriana Cafe in Ellicott City. He will be performing in the Washington Folk Fest 2023 at Glen Echo Park.
